SABUT MASOOR (WHOLE LENTILS) DAL RECIPES

Ingredients:-

  • Sabut Masoor ki Dal (whole Lentils) - 2 cups
  • Onion - 2 large (finely Chopped)
  • Tomato - 1 large (finely Chopped)
  • Garlic 
  • Salt as taste
  • Turmeric Powder - 3 tsp
  • Red chilli Powder - 2 tsp
  • Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
  • Asafoetida (Hing) - 1 pinch
  • Oil - 3 tsp
  • Lemon juice - 2 tsp
  • Coriander leaves for Garnishing


Methods:-


  • Wash and Put the masoor dal in a Pressure cooker, add 2 cups of water, salt and turmeric powder. Cook the dal for about 7-8 min (around 3 whistles) or till the dal is cooked well.
  • Heat oil in a kadai, add cumin seeds. when the cumin seeds begin to change colour, add asafoetida, curshed garlic and green chilli slit. cook for about 10 sec.
  • Add onion to the oil and cook for about 2 min or until they turn golden color. Add tamatoes and stir-fry till oil separates. 
  • Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, Salt and garam masala powder and saute for a minutes. Add boiled dal and 1/2 to 1 cup of water as per your liking gravy consistency.

  • Simmer for about ten minutes. Squeeze fresh lemon juice.
  • Serve hot garnished with chopped coriander leaves.
